Students see status — not notes

Students can check their own referral status. They never see counselor notes, internal urgency levels, or details from personal/crisis referrals.

My Counseling
Your counseling referrals and visit history
How this works: When a teacher thinks you could benefit from talking with your counselor, they submit a referral. Your counselor will review it and schedule a time to meet.

Counselor workflows are invisible
A teacher notices a student struggling. They send an email, mention it in the hallway, maybe fill out a Google Form. The counselor makes a mental note. A week later, nobody remembers. The student never got seen.
There's no trail, no priority system, no follow-up mechanism. Schools are doing critical student support work on sticky notes.
Built around how counselors actually work
Every referral is categorized so counselors can prioritize and prepare before pulling a student.

Crisis

Crisis referrals are auto-flagged and sorted to the top of the queue.

Everyone sees what they need
Teacher

A clean form inside the teacher portal. Select a student, choose a category, set urgency, describe the concern. Takes 30 seconds.

  • Student lookup by number

  • Crisis banner with safety protocol reminder
Counselor

Manage the Queue

A prioritized dashboard with stats, tabs, and one-click actions. Approve, deny, or log visit outcomes with notes and follow-up dates.

  • Crisis-first priority sorting
  • Approve / deny with reason tracking
  • Visit logging with outcome notes
  • Parent and teacher contact checkboxes
  • Follow-up date scheduling
Student Record

Counseling History

A timeline view inside the student's record showing every referral, visit note, and follow-up. Complete audit trail for compliance.

  • Visual timeline with color-coded status
  • Expandable visit notes per referral
  • Parent contact and follow-up tags
  • Summary stats (total / active / completed)
Four steps. Zero paper.

Teacher Submits Referral

From the teacher portal, select a student, pick a category and urgency, describe the concern. Crisis referrals trigger an immediate flag.

Counselor Reviews Queue

The dashboard sorts by urgency — crisis first, then high, medium, low. Each row shows the student, grade, reason, and preferred period.

Visit Logged

After meeting the student, the counselor records what happened: outcome summary, parent contacted, teacher notified, and follow-up date if needed.

Follow-Ups Surface

Pending follow-ups appear on the dashboard automatically. Overdue items are flagged. The counselor closes the loop or extends the plan.

This enhances — it doesn't replace
Counselor Queue does not replace existing counseling documentation or reporting tools. It adds a structured intake and tracking layer on top of PowerSchool using custom tables. Your student data stays in PowerSchool. The plugin just makes counselor workflows visible and accountable.
Built for district approval

No external data transfer — all data stored in PowerSchool's own database

Minimal student context — reads only name, grade, and student number

Role-based access — teachers see their form, counselors see the queue, admins see history

District IT controlled — install, configure, and remove through Plugin Management

ALSDE format compliant — follows the same plugin structure used by state-deployed plugins

No parent-facing exposure — staff-only tool, no student or guardian access
